The IDI programme on Audit of the externally funded project in agriculture and food security sector project has finally come to the close.
In August 2015, the programme on the audit of the externally funded projects in agriculture and food security sector was implemented with the stakeholders meeting. It concluded February 2018 with the Review and Lesson Learnt Worksop. The main objective of this programme was to increase the involvement of SAIs in auditing externally aided projects in agriculture and food security sector, by supporting SAIs in enhancing their capacity and performance in conducting such audits.
The focus of this programme was the implementation of the ISSAIs on project audits for Financial and Compliance Audits.
In this programme, the IDI has been cooperating with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in supporting the 7 SAIs that participated in this programme namely; Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia and Zambia.
The Review and Lesson learnt workshop took place in Dare salaam, Tanzania from 12-16 February 2018. All the stakeholders, namely participating SAIs, IFAD and IDI attended this workshop which was aimed at discussing what worked well in the programme, challenges faced and the possible solutions to the challenges. All the SAIs and IFAD committed to the sustainability of these audits. During the same workshop, IFAD also presented the revised project audit guide aligned to the ISSAIs.
